Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Medicare Card?

What is a Discovery Call and Does It Cost Anything?
A Discovery Call is a free 5-minute chat with our team. It’s your chance to ask questions and see how we can support your weight loss journey.
Are MIDOC Doctors registered in Australia?
Yes – our MIDOC doctors are AHPRA-registered Australian practitioners who follow the Medical Board of Australia’s telehealth guidelines.
What support will I receive?

How Do I Know Which Treatment is Right for Me?
Our MIDOC AHPRA-registered doctors will assess your health and recommend the most suitable treatment option for your individual needs. This may include medications that help regulate appetite or support metabolic processes. The right approach will be chosen based on your health goals, medical history, and clinical suitability to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Will I be prescribed medication straight away?
Not necessarily – prescriptions are only given after a real-time consultation and full health assessment.
What types of weight loss treatments might be discussed?
Your MIDOC GP may consider a range of options, including appetite suppressants, GLP-1 receptor agonists, fat absorption blockers, or combination therapies. Names and doses can only be discussed in your consultation in line with TGA guidelines.
What is the best injection for losing weight?
Some patients may be eligible for weight loss injections that help regulate appetite and support healthy eating habits. The right choice will depend on your health profile and doctor’s advice.
What Are the Benefits of Losing Weight?
Even a small reduction — around 5% of your body weight — can make a big difference to your health. It can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, ease heartburn, boost confidence and sexual wellbeing, and support better mobility. Weight loss also reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, sleep apnoea, joint pain, heart disease, stroke, and some cancers.
What drugs can help with weight loss?
Different classes of prescription medications can help by affecting appetite, digestion, fat absorption, or metabolism. Your MIDOC doctor will recommend the safest option for you
Are there pills to help you lose weight?
Yes – some weight loss medications come in tablet form. These work in different ways and are only prescribed if clinically appropriate.
What’s the difference between injections and pills for weight loss?
Injections may provide longer-lasting effects between doses, while pills are taken daily. The most suitable option depends on your lifestyle, medical history, and treatment goals.
Can I lose weight with medication alone?
Medication is most effective when combined with healthy eating, regular physical activity, and ongoing medical support.
Can I use this program after pregnancy?
Eligibility after pregnancy depends on your health, recovery, and breastfeeding status. Your doctor will guide you on safe timing and treatment options.
Is the program suitable for all genders?
Yes – our program is open to all adults who meet the medical eligibility criteria.
How long does it take to get my script if I’m eligible?
If your MIDOC doctor approves medication, your eScript can often be sent to your phone on the same day as your consultation.
How Much Does the Weight Management Plan Cost?
Our medical weight management program is $2.99 per day excluding medication. No membership and no subscription. This includes ongoing support from AHPRA-registered health professionals’ supervision, personalised care, and regular follow-ups to help you stay on track. If we are unable to assist, we provide a full refund.
How long until I see results?
Results vary – some patients notice changes within weeks, others over a few months. Progress depends on your plan, lifestyle changes, and adherence to advice.
Will I need to take medication long-term?
Some people use medication short-term, others longer. Your GP will regularly review your plan to make sure it’s still right for you.
What lifestyle changes should I make alongside weight loss medication?
For the best results, weight loss medication should be combined with healthy daily habits. This may include:
-
Eating a balanced diet rich in vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats
-
Limiting processed and high-sugar foods to reduce excess calorie intake
-
Regular physical activity – aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week, or as advised by your doctor
-
Staying hydrated by drinking water regularly throughout the day
-
Getting enough sleep, as poor sleep can affect appetite and metabolism
-
Managing stress through relaxation techniques, hobbies, or mindfulness practices
Your doctor can provide personalised guidance to make sure these lifestyle changes work with your treatment plan and support long-term success.
